Digital Prepress

The printing industry is a vital part of the new media economy. Even with web publishing, we will never completely stop printing on paper. An Associate of Applied Science Degree is available in Digital Prepress.

This program centers on preparing graduates to enter the printing and prepress industries with an emphasis upon working in the graphics and art departments. Graduates of this program will be equipped with such tools as: software adaptability knowledge, experience with the latest printing processes such as web press and direct to plate, and a strong design background specifically tailored to the printing industry needs.

Graduates have the opportunity to gain entry-level positions as production artists, graphics artists, customer support technicians, and graphic design specialists in companies within the printing, prepress, and publishing industries.

We prepare students to be competitive for new media jobs within a number of industries. Salary ranges vary by location, job type, and responsibilities. We recommend Monster.com for researching salaries.

Graduates in the Digital Prepress program will have skill sets to compete for jobs in these areas:

Desktop Publishing Operator
Graphic Design Specialist
Production Artist
Production Assistant
Proofreader
Publication Generalist Manager
