Graphic Design
A career-focused program providing a comprehensive overview in the areas of design, layout, typography, illustration, computer graphics, and electronic publishing. Graphic Design students can choose from a variety of related electives geared towards employment opportunities in the industries of advertising, publishing, printing, packaging, and entertainment. An Associate of Applied Science Degree and a Certificate are available in Graphic Design.
The Graphic Design program is broad-based interdisciplinary, career focused program designed to meet the needs of students to develop skills in design, typography, layout, illustration, computer graphics and electronic publishing. It also meets the needs of students who wish to upgrade their skills, retrain for new or added job skills, or enter the job market versed in electronic publishing. Students may choose from a variety of related electives. A variety of employment opportunities are available with advertising agencies, publishing and printing firms, art studios, television stations, department stores, packaging firms, newspapers, and various businesses with in-house art departments. Currently employed persons may also benefit from this program.
Graduates have the opportunity to gain entry-level positions as production artists with advertising agencies printing companies newspapers, etc. or as designers blending creativity with computer proficiencies to generate newsletters, ads, brochures, or other print publications.
We prepare students to be competitive for new media jobs within a number of industries. Salary ranges vary by location, job type, and responsibilities. We recommend Monster.com for researching salaries.
